Spotted Wood-Kingfisher

Actenoides lindsayi

Some years ago, this bird became an instant celebrity when it shown itself in UP Diliman’s campus. Because of its rarity, birdwatchers and photographers flocked to the university to see it live and in full color. The bird would accommodate people and would gladly pose for photo-ops! I got this!

Spotted Wood-Kingfishers are of forest dwelling kind. It feasts on insects and small mammals and are very hard to find.

Paddyfield Pipit

Anthus rufulus

Common bird you would often see on roads, grass lands, shrubs and in open places. The very distinct characteristic of this bird is that it would run away very rapidly when you approach them instead of flying. I personally call this bird the road-runner.
